Good gracious, blog is bodacious.

Manic (Link) Monday. Wait, You Say It’s Not Monday? Ah, Very Well Then: Touché.

You may have noticed from the title that I’m in a mood this morning. Some of you who have been reading for awhile will probably be able to attribute my tone, overall geekery, and overt giggling through the keyboard to my already witnessed pre-posting crack-smoking mood. And to such an assumption I would say: For shame! And, then: Well, yeah. I would think that, too.

I stumbled upon Ms. HeatherAnneHogan’s Hoagie Awards while playing a bit of (we)blog reading catch-up, and I must say, I was amused, and thrilled, and instantly thought of five nominations for each category. In mere moments I was plotting and scheming, trying to figure out the best way to send her multiple clandestine emails with my multiple nominations. You know, secretly and clandestine-like. Because yes, surely (and as we all know) I am easily amused. And apparently also: I get a kick out of the possibility of cheating. When did I become such a heathen? Wait. Don’t answer that.

So, yes, what was I saying? The Hoagies, right! You should hop and over and vote, was my overall point. And there you were, doubting I had an actual point. Don’t worry; I was doubting, too.

Oh, and also (look out below! second point a-coming!), last week I joined the Let’s All Be Crazy And Post EVERY Day For The Month Of November bandwagon. You may have heard it called NaBloPoMo. I personally can’t say or type that five times fast, so I took it upon myself to re-name it. What can I say? I’m a libertarian at heart. (Or, you know, pre-posting crack-smoking ritual. Ahem.) Not that I can say or type my newly recreated title five times fast, either. But that probably isn’t the point I was originally trying to make.

As I was saying before I so aptly distracted myself: It’s a fun! bandwagon, full of ambition, mock Irish accents, and the occasional glass of scotch. There may even be cookies on the bandwagon. You know, if you bring some when you join. (I’m partial to peanut butter cookies myself.) I’ll have to be honest and admit that there aren’t as many hoop skirts as I would have originally imagined for a bandwagon, but then again, I can’t say I’ve ridden many a wagon, band, covered, or otherwise. Unless you count that one October many Octobers past, when my sister and I sat on hay-bales and picked apples and giggled at how the horse was comfortable dropping droppings mid wagon-ride. That was just plain amusing. But oh, don’t worry. No horse-droppings on this particular band-wagon. You know, unless you want to bring those, too. With the cookies.

Where Am I Going, Where Have I Been?

This week I have been:

Writing, editing, and organizing grant proposals, and preparing gargantuan-sized grant budgets feverishly, to meet deadlines both old and new.

Snuggling with my pug and enjoying any downtime I have been able to muster.

Writing! I’m so excited about three different stories I have in the works, and thanks to a recent prompt by Danny, I’ve been sitting down daily to translate my excitement into actual words on a page. (Not unlike snakes on a plane. Only → Read more...

Stand In The Place Where You Live

This post inspired by my friend and partner in movie quote crime, Home Sweet Sarah.

—————

Some of the most memorable places I have stood, in no particular order:

On The Great Wall of China. Next to my sister as she took her wedding vows. In front of the Kremlin in Moscow. Next to my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Priest Lake. Specifically, my family’s Priest Lake dock spot. On Mt. Seorak, South Korea. Poolside for countless summers with friends, and cousins, and awesome(ly ridiculous) bikinis. At the base → Read more...

“I once saw him beat a guy up with a starfish.” “That’s ridiculous.”

Full disclosure: I initially considered titling this post !!!!!!!!! but Wordpress started laughing at me, and threatened to throw spam.

At this point to say I cannot contain my already typically excessive exclaiming is to understate. HOW am I going to refrain from blurting out, “Hawaii! I’m going there!” from now until I leave at the beginning of September? Better yet, Maui! + getting to see my sister in TWO WEEKS = how am I going to sleep tonight? And the → Read more...

Not A Kid’s Movie Review: Pan’s Labyrinth

Originally aired: January 19, 2007. Watched by Kerri Anne: August 1, 2010. Courtesy of: Netflix Instant Watch. Because: a) I was in the mood for a lighthearted, kid-centric story; b) Netflix told me I would four stars enjoy it and saw fit to leave out crucial somber-tone-revealing plot points in their synopsis; c) Netflix is a lying liar face; d) ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Starring: A slew of great Spanish actors you’ve probably never heard of, most notably Ivana Baquero and Maribel Verdú. Protagonist’s → Read more...
